The Diablo IV team is searching for an experienced Senior Gameplay Engineer to help shape the future of this iconic franchise. We’re looking for someone with expertise in several of the following areas: combat, AI, movement, user interface, quests/mission systems, item generation, or other core game systems. The ideal candidate will have outstanding people skills, a deep passion for playing Diablo and other genres, and a drive to work closely with designers to create compelling, epic features that will captivate players for years to come.
This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The home studio for this role is Albany, NY.
Responsibilities:
Design, implement, improve, and maintain various gameplay systems for Diablo 4 ensuring they meet the design vision and performance goals.
Work closely with designers, artists, and other engineers to iterate on gameplay features, while maintaining a high level of quality and consistency.
Act as a collaborative ambassador of engineering to the rest of the team.
Optimize gameplay performance: Analyze and improve the performance of gameplay systems, ensuring smooth and responsive player experiences on a range of hardware configurations.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to less experienced team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented development environment.
Debug and resolve complex issues: Identify and fix bugs, optimize code, and troubleshoot issues in gameplay systems, ensuring stability and reliability in the final product.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of game programming experience and shipped at least 1 AAA title.
Proficient in C / C++
Experience in several of the following areas: quests and narrative content systems, user interface, player abilities, combat, AI, or other game systems.
Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams.
Self-motivation and willingness to participate in many areas of game development.
Bonus:
In-depth familiarity with the Diablo franchise, and other Blizzard Entertainment products
Experience playing and/or developing RPGs, ARPGS, and/or MMORPGS.
Experience working with client / server game systems.
Experience crafting and supporting tools used in game development.
Experience with C#
Computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or equivalent experience

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $101,000.00 - $186,754.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
